Coelacanth Hunting

I went fishing late tonight (technically, last night) and spotted two coelacanths. The first one I missed. But the second one I caught easily. I kind of feel foolish now that I've caught two and seen another. Why didn't I try later at night? Well, I guess I have an excuse. It hasn't rained this much in Alleria, usually it's over in an hour or two. This rain has lasted three or four days. Also, I get up at 4:30AM for work so I don't play very late. Hurrah for the weekend!
Okay. I thought I ended up with better pictures but I was kind of disappointed in them. For anybody out there that has trouble finding that elusive coelacanth or hasn't seen a fish larger than the sea bass, here is the difference:

Sea Bass

Yes, a coelacanth!

This guide has better pictures than mine. Very handy.

I forgot to mention that I've had the basement for about a week now. Obviously haven't done anything with it until today when I moved the tuna down and put the new coelacanth beside it. I'm thinking I'll move the upstairs Mario room down. That room is a mess, it's actually embarrassing. It's been model room of the month because of the feng shui. I hope it's not appearing in anybody else's town. If it is, my sincerest apologies for that terrible disaster.

Had another hybrid today.

Yes! A blue pansy I grew myself. I guess my white pansy parade paid off and not in the way I was hoping. I had actually planted those in hopes of spotting a orchid mantis. I still chase those damn bugs away. But hey, I'll take a blue pansy any day!

My good buddy Snake decided to come up with a new, not-so-flattering nickname for me.

Because we're pals, I agreed. Hopefully it will fade away. Either that or I grow fond of it.

And what is it with my crankier neighbors getting the itch to move away? First Static and then today Avery approached with the big news:

I just couldn't deal with my friends leaving me. What would happen? Another duck would move in, that's what. And I'm just not prepared for Duck-apocalypse 2009. Or another round of the bird flu.
Luckily I didn't have to convince Avery at all. I just stated, "Don't go" and he quickly changed his mind.

Maybe he was just looking for some extra attention.

Now that Static has recovered from his moving 'bug', he's back to his good old sarcastic self:

Ahhh, that's the Static I know and love.

Ever wonder why Blaire never gets spoken about? No? Well, she is still in town it's just that she seems to be a house hermit. She stays inside alot and repeats the same thing over and over.

I go over for semi-daily visits but it's a bit awkward. I'm not sure she realizes that all we talk about are the 'special visitors' of Alleria and what I notice when I walk into her house. Oh well.
She's a bit nutty.
(I know. Terrible pun.)
Anyway.
Tomorrow...er, later this morning is the fishing tourney. I'm not too concerned about winning since I have both the silver and gold trophies but I will certainly participate. It's a good way to earn some money.

Rain Town

I love the rain.
It waters my flowers, it changes neighbors moods and it just seems to make it even more relaxing in Alleria.
It's been raining here for the past 3 days off and on, mostly on. I am so glad! I even got a couple hybrids out of it:

This black rose showed up on the same day that I got a really beautiful purple tulip behind my house. I had this meager hybrid garden going that only had a blue pansy (I didn't even grow it, it was a gift!) and three pink cosmos. Now it has my new hybrids added with two pink carnations and it's looking a bit awkward so I'm trying to think what I can do with them until I have more. I definitely want to keep them outside but there just isn't quite enough to have a proper garden and the mix doesn't go well together. Hm, I'll have to work on that this weekend.

And here's the big news: Thanks to the rain, I caught my first coelacanth!

Man I don't know how many hours I've put into catching that sucker but it finally all payed off. Initially I was fishing around 4:30PM but I realized I was wasting my time after spending quite a few rainy days at that time looking for that coelacanth. So right before I went to bed (9:27PM to be exact...yeah, I have to be up early for work), I tried again. It took all of five minutes to see that familiar shadow. It's the same shadow as the tuna, longer and skinnier than the sea bass. You recognize it right off the bat. He also moves quicker than the sea bass, even though it took four tugs before he latched on. I practically held my breath until I knew I had him for sure and when I held him, I yelled in joy.

The big hunt is finally over. Enjoy your new home, big guy.

Well, now that the excitement is over, here's some neighbor news.
Avery was really fascinated by the fact that I was wearing a big bro's mustache that Chrissy had given me.

He kept walking around town mumbling to himself so I checked back with him.

Poor Avery. Being stuck in little old Alleria has really dampened his open-mindedness. Has he even gone into the city? It would probably be culture shock!

Yesterday, Static dropped this bombshell on me:

Noooooo! Static can't leave me!
It took a bit of whining and crying but Static changed his mind.

Phew.

That's right, Static. Thaaaat's right.

Rhonda has been sick the past couple days.

I think she had the rhinovirus.
Ahhhh, I crack myself up.

Chrissy had kept bugging me about giving a message to Rob. Why? She has spoke with him all but two times or so. But after her constant nagging, I gave in. Rob woke up from his slumber once again and reported back to Chrissy. After, Chrissy revealed her true thoughts about me:

Whaaaaat? A flake?! If I had to describe anybody in Alleria as a flake, it would of been her! Sheesh.
But then she must have thought twice and gave me an awkward...compliment? This is a compliment, right?

Hmmm. I'll have to watch what I say and do around Chrissy. I'm thinking she may be the owner and main proponent of the Rumor Mill in town. Watch your back, Chrissy. Watch your back.

And last but definitely not least, it's Marcel. File this one under the Adorable Marcel Comments file.

Oh Marcel, how I love you.

The Alleria Curse

I am not making this up.
Pompom left and in her place, I mean EXACTLY in the same spot as her place, this young lady showed up. Mallary. Aaaaaaaaaaaa duck.
Having thought the Alleria Duck Hunt was a success (never mind complete), this cruel cruel joke was played on me. Or maaaaaaybe Alleria is positioned perfectly in the migration path, making this a great stop over for traveling ducks. Either way, I am not happy. The Alleria Curse is ducks.
Here we go again.

Other than that 'exciting' tidbit of news, all is quiet in Alleria. No visitors for awhile save for the first visit from Blanca.

It was a surprise to see her finally show up. I wasn't sure if she would or not. You see, in previous experiences I've had to pick up the phone and ban her from coming through the town gates because she did so to the point of annoyment (that's not a word, is it?). Anyhow, I was kind of glad to be able to say I've met her. So....I've met Blanca. There.

Even with nothing exciting happening around town, I've still managed to slack when it comes to catching new fish and bugs. Even so, it was hard to miss this one.

Little booger moves pretty fast. I also managed to catch the pond skater but haven't got a chance to grab the diving beetle. I think I saw one once but I was doing something or other and didn't track it down.

Even though I'm the only one that plays, there is a secret resident of Alleria who only awakens if I need to replace a pattern on the pathways. My boyfriends character, Rob. I woke him up the other day for something and noticed the sexy bed hair.

Once fully awake, Rob took a trip into the city to learn an emotion and get a balloon from Phineas. We tried to take a picture of a sad disheveled man holding a balloon (artsy, ya know?) but these are as close as we could get:

The last one looks like he dropped a coin and is looking for it.

Avery has been spending a lot of time at the Roost.

Two different days and in the same spot. Maybe he's becoming a regular? Or he enjoys Brewsters' company? Either way I spent a good 10 minutes searching for him in town.

Let's see....
Oh. Here's a bit of useless trivia. The pink zap suit outfit clearly matches many members of the AC community.

Here I am, clearly resembling Vladimir......

Pink 'lil Chrissy and her yellow tuft of hair match the outfit.....

Blanca looked a bit like a heroine....

Even manly manly Snake! Apparently, pink with yellow accent is all the rage in Alleria.
Although, it did seem to depress Snake that he resembled a girl.

No, I'm just kidding. He was sick that day.

Before we wrap things up, the Alleria Chamber of Commerce has a message:

Huh. Even I didn't know that.

May Charm

Wanna test your luck and find some rare items? You know what to do.

0603-1490-7578
Name: Sarah
Town: Alleria

The Adventures of Snake

With Miranda out of the picture, it wasn't long before Alleria greeted our newest resident.
Whoooo could it be?

Snake! I've heard about this Snake before...wearing a ninja hood, being all jocky...was this weirdo going to fit into our tight-knit community?
He already had a couple of points in his favor. He moved right into Miranda's old spot, very graciously sparing the untouched spots in town. He was unique. And he oddly looked like a cross between Gaston and Vladimir, which is probably the best thing.
It wasn't long before we found out.

Whaaaa?!
This. Guy. Is. AWESOME!
He has the best personality, keeping all of Alleria entertained with his insanely ridiculous statements. He moved in and quickly became a prized member of the community. He literally put on the official Alleria shirt and started his crazy hijinks.
True to his outfit, it seems like he's the ninja of town. I've already found him sneaking about.

No, this isn't a game of Hide and Seek. He's just hiding behind the museum. Being a ninja.

I guess while he's busy with his official ninja duties, he also eavesdrops on the townies and reports back to me.

Yay! We love veggies!!

And it wasn't long before he invited himself over to my house for a visit.

I think he came in the window.
He also took it upon himself to critique my house.

But he also had some praise for his new buddy.

Lemme tell you, it's a great relief to finally have an unexpectedly awesome new neighbor move in.
But Snake isn't the only story in town.

Pete went on to say that Pelly was too young for him, that he's looking for somebody more mature...hmm...like Phyllis?
Barf. Drama.

Also, Nook brought up the dreaded quesion of which store I would prefer yesterday.

I decided to downgrade to Nook 'n Go. I need the late hours, especially on the weekend. 9 PM closing time just doesn't cut it for fishing and late-night play.

I've been meaning to arrange my flowers for maximum hybrid growing but haven't gotten around to that daunting task. But the other day, I walked around and found that Alleria must have been throwing up pink cosmos.

As you can see, I added them to my measly collection of hybrids. Wooo! Go us!

A recent trip to the city showed that animals I've never met before somehow know who I am.

Huh. You learn something new everyday.

And finally, it seems like the causalities from the Alleria Duck Hunt aren't quite done.

Wooo! She wasn't here long but she already wants out. Of course I'm letting her go. Wait...which means...Deena! The wiiinnaaaa of the Duck Hunt! She's the sole survivor and the lucky grand prize winner of, erm, staying in town a little longer than the other ducks. Your bland personality helped keep you hidden and out the spotlight. Congratulations, Deena!
