I Heart Fireflys

Saturday night, Static and I met at the Roost. The approaching summer season has us both excited. What's in store for Alleria?

I tried to get him to join me in watching K.K.'s stirring performance of Imperial K.K. but he's as stubborn as always. He seems to prefer to stare at the wall.

On Sunday I decided to at least do something worthwhile and I moved my Jacob's Ladders to a better spot. They looked great in front of my house for awhile but slowly the numbers outgrew the space I had. It started to look really messy.

Couldn't even capture all of them.
I decided the best place for them was to line them down the path from the gate. I think it looks a lot better.

Blaire spent the weekend being sick. I dutifully brought her medicine until she was feeling better. She was so happy, she literally jumped for joy.

Flying squirrel?

Also on Sunday, as I was doing my routine watering, I found something moving on a flower:

It's hard to see but it's the orchid mantis.

I was lucky to see it since I've only been able to catch one. So I decided to keep it for the storage room. I'll look it up and see if it has a good selling price. If it does, I'll keep it for the Flea Market.

I was super excited to find out that Nook's spotlight item was the lucky gold cat. It was the only one missing from my collection.

One day, they will be in a much better looking room!

As per usual, I've been listening in on neighbors' conversations. Rhonda's long time dislike of Marcel seems to be continuing as he gets on her nerves more and more.

Rhonda stomped off angrily. I thought it was pretty cute that Marcel was complimenting Rhonda on smelling good but I think he went about it the wrong way. When I thought about it later, it did seem odd. Rhonda doesn't have any visible hair.

Marcel took it pretty hard. He thinks it has to do with his own hygiene.

Monday brought about the start of a new month. Yay! I always look forward to the arrival of new bugs and fish. But it also brought the arrival of a new resident, Merry.

Sheesh.
Not only is this human-looking cat snobby but she made a big no-no right from the get-go.
She moved onto our pristine, once un-inhabited island. Luckily, her house didn't get in the way of paths or destroy much but it is an eye sore. Why couldn't she have moved into Deena's old spot? We would have been better off with good old boring Deena.

The insect catching has been slow. I caught a darner dragonfly pretty quickly. Later as I was fishing, I saw a tiny little bug floating around. Not thinking much of it, I continued luring fishies. But the damn thing interrupted and stung me!

Argh! Taking revenge on its kind, I caught one yesterday and donated it into life long slavery at the Alleria museum. Ha, take that mosquito! Enjoy your sterile boring life in a museum!
I also saw this guy scuttling around.

EEEEEEK!
As soon as I gained my composure, I went searching for it again, prepared to sneak up and whip out my net. It was all to no avail, though, as I wasn't able to locate him again. I will definitely step up my efforts to catch a tarantula. I'm fully prepared to be attacked.
I also saw a giant moth that flew off a tree. It actually made me jump when it flapped away.

And my ultimate favorite bug of the century has to be the firefly. The first time I saw it, I gasped at how cool it looked.

It is pretty amazing how much they light up the area. As soon as I put him in my pocket, the path went back to being dark. These things are cool and I spent a good half hour walking around town taking in their eerie glow.

So pretty.

Cool! Two! These guys are everywhere!

Three? Really?

He's so bright, I need sunglasses to look at him at night.
Oh fireflys, how I love thee. I could make an entire scrapbook with pictures of you.

Quick! An update!

K.K. may have riveting performances but I still find myself falling asleep sometimes.

First off, let me say I am soooo sorry there hasn't been an update.
My boyfriends' computer got a virus and was down for a good week.
And yes, this is the computer that I use. So I had no way to update. So here we go, I'll give you all the info super quick so I can catch everybody up on the happenings in Alleria!

Wendell stopped by awhile ago and very kindly exchanged a Tom Nook pattern for a delicious apple. Sometime in the future I'd like to use that pattern to make a directional marker for vistors to find Nookingtons', going from the town gate and spread intermittently through town to point friends in the right direction. But then again, look how long it took me to lay decent paths? This may be awhile...for now it sits in Able Sisters' along with K.K. Slider.

And finally! I got the golden watering can. Gee, it seems more than two weeks since I announced the accidental PTS, right? Weeeell, about 13 days into it, some tricky weeds were hiding that I didn't catch and one or two flowers must have vanished that day because after checking the status, the next day I checked again and had the dreaded C+/D- evaluation. After panicking and planting more flowers and trees everywhere (that's what you get when you don't have your acres marked and can't tell where the screw up is!) I got it back to PTS but not soon enough apparently. I had to start the timer all over again. And obviously, I made it. Woot~!

As expected, Miranda moved out of Alleria. It turned out to be a little sad, though. I guess I was more attached to her than I expected.

What a sweet sweet letter!
When I checked the message board, an announcement of that day being her birthday was posted. How sad! She left home on her birthday....so not being able to wish her a good day personally, I payed my respects at her dirt spot.

Pompom looking on in victory.
Why couldn't have Deena moved? She's nice, sure, but Miranda was one of the Alleria natives!
Oh well. Another one bites the dust.

A visit to the city saw a former Allerian hanging around.

Winnie didn't seem to recognize me. I tried to bring up the good times we've had but she seems to have moved on happily to wherever it is she resides.
Another city visitor brought about a good time to recruit new Allerians.

Liiiiiiiimbeeeeeerg!
Here's to hoping my efforts pay off and we get a lovely, WELCOMED new neighbor.

And I'll leave you with a few comments from our dear, dear residents.

Oh my. Pete likes it rough.

Oh, Marcel. Can you get any more adorable?

Poor Chrissy. But going up to Gracie with a shitty Alleria flag design I made in two minutes is fashion suicide.

What more could be said?

What's New?

A lot.
Sorry for no update, a sprained knee sucks.
So here's what's up in Alleria!
  • New Store!

More product, less time to sell.
  • Special Visitors!

Ran all over town for Saharah and all I got was a robo-floor.

Phineas showed up three days in a row. I scored this pin wheel, a lavender balloon, and a cool blue bunny balloon!

K.K. gave me a cool new tune that is a welcome change in the house. No more Go K.K. Rider!

Of course Pascal shows up and I forget to hand him a scallop. No Pirate's Life for me...

Finally had some company in the Roost! Had coffee with Miranda and then Kapp'n showed up!

Chatted with Pete last week.

And got my DLC gift yesterday!

  • New Catches!

Obviously it took me a couple tries. Running north and pulling out my net with the wii-remote directional pad was the winning strategy.

Marcel didn't believe me.

After hours and hours of searching, I finally caught the tuna. It's almost the end of tuna season so I was really excited about this.

After accidentally selling my last barred knifejaw, I caught one right after the tuna!

How awesome is that?!?!

Museum. Looking pretty full!
  • New Tools!

Silver watering can.

Golden sling shot.

  • New House Re-model!

So...tall!

And in other news.....

Yes! Go, go, go!
Astrid has been threatening to leave for what seems like ages. I've been whole-heartedly encouraging her to go. Anyyyyy day now, I'm hoping she'll be packed up and ready to go.
While I hate to say I don't like her, I do have to say she has been nicer than in past experiences living in the same town together.

Yeah. We'll remember you, Astrid. Now move on!

In other neighbor news, our dear buddy Static asked me over to his house! What a nice surprise!

But the small talk didn't last long. Static got down to why he actually invited me over: to buy his crap.

I went ahead and bought a folk guitar from him. As I was leaving, he stopped me to say this:

Awww, Static. He's just a little lonely. He's definitely one of my favorite current neighbors.

And that's about it. Spring is treating Alleria very well, growing lots of healthy fruit trees and lovely flowers. And we're always looking for new friends! Come visit us!

And remember:
