The Most Beautiful Girl In Town

Hey! You!
Guess what?
Alleria is duck free!

As long as the animal that replaces her is not of the anatidae persuasion, we will have escaped the Duck-ocalypse '09 (hopefully for good). Honestly, Mallary wasn't a bad neighbor. She just came to the wrong town that's all.
When she had finished packing, I came to see her off. We said our 'good-byes' and hugged but as soon she turned around to clean the corner, I celebrated very quietly.

Hurray for moving!

In non-neighbor news, we are one day away from our brand new shiny fountain!

I have a stock of axes in my cabinet so I'll be joining the rest of people in the search for a golden axe. Bring it, Serena!

The U.S. finally got our DLC...the dolphin model!

The dolphin is a space ship from the Pikmin game. Unfortunately, all it does is take up space. Oh well, better than nothing.

Awhile back, Antonio and I did a photo shoot for our never-will-be-released CD. Then Static insisted that we pose together. Now, Avery and I decided it was high time for the two of us to strike a pose for a buddy picture.

We went with the net look this time

My latest next door neighbor, Bettina, is slowly becoming a friend. I went to visit her and discovered that she had an adorable little house. It's so functional!

She must have a secret door somewhere as this appears to be only her kitchen.
Although she has been very polite to me, apparently word in town is that Bettina isn't necessarily true to her nice personality.

How can you NOT get along with Marcel?!
And I've seen her temper flare in person more than once...

Anger to sadness in the span of 20 minutes
So I don't know. I think these critters personalities are a little deeper than just, "Oh, I'm the nice one." or "I'm the grumpy one, grrrr." I suppose it makes it a little more interesting in town.

A recent trip to the city made me remember that the end of the GracieGrace season sale was already in full swing!

Even with many items already sold out, I was able to pick up a few shirts that I wanted. I don't buy the furniture. I can't afford to, even with the discounts!

Today is the Flea Market. I'm hoping for a decent day as I plan on selling big, my goal being 400k. I don't think I will reach it unfortunately as I just don't have the fish that I had last month. We'll see though, I do have some decent bugs.

That is about it for news. Here are some of my favorite recent random comments from the lovable local lunks.

This one has a little story to it. Bettina asked Mallary for her address so she could send her a letter (I assume it was a farewell letter). Apparently last time she asked Mallary, she said to just address it to "The Most Beautiful Girl In Town". So that's what Bettina did. Wellll, Pete saw it and delivered it to Phyllis, of course under the assumption that Phyllis is the most beautiful girl (in his eyes of course). Now anytime Bettina goes to town hall, Phyllis gives her the stink eye thinking Bettina has the hots for her. Ha!

Nothing new between Marcel and Chrissy. I tried to get some information out of her but it seems like neither of them have the balls to ask the other out. Or, as Gluxbox suggested, Marcel may be gay. Not that it matters...but it does explain a lot. The make-up, the recent fashion obsession...Chrissy could just be his best friend. LOL! I know, it's all ridiculous. That's why I love this blog.

Chrissy thinks I'm pretty nice apparently.

Good grief. What a ditz....

....You see what I mean?!

Easily one of the most awkward/funniest things I've heard from an animal.
Speaking of awkward/funny...how about a few from the Marcel Adorable Files?!

...Sooo, why don't you eat and then go deliver it? I guess logic isn't a strong trait in Marcel.

Marcel never finished that sentence. Too busy thinking....about...ketchup...

And finally, my favorite statement of all time. Seriously.

Winner!

Fun In The Sun

I have to agree, Static.

Because of my volunteer work outside of Alleria (shhh, don't tell my animal friends but I do have a life outside of Alleria), I missed the Bug-Off. Bad news for me but good news for Static!

I would of totally whomped him and his measly jewel beetle. So it's a good thing I was gone. And besides, I should probably step aside every once in awhile and let somebody else win. Not to sound conceited or anything...
By the time I got back, it was already dark in Alleria. I still had to water though so I scurried around town.
I've been wondering lately when I would finally find one of those!
I was hoping to have some quality time to hunt for the scorpion but I was already tired and didn't feel up to tip-toeing around. So I started to head back home when I ran into Mallary.
No, no you're not.
Does this mean that within this month we will be 100% duck-free?! I can't dream of a better wish! Goodbye Mallary, the sooner you leave the better! So until she is packing her belongings, anytime I see her I will remind her of her promise to move on.

Yesterday was a hot one and luckily I had the chance to spend some time on the beach fishing and shell collecting.
I didn't really catch a whole lot. My most notable were a couple puffer fish (one which went directly to Blathers), a sun fish, and another blue marlin. I'm hoping that my time spent lurking on the beach helped my tan. I'm tired of being so pale!
It seemed like Chrissy wasn't so keen on getting a little sun.
It looked pretty odd to see her walking around with an umbrella in the heat but I understand. That creamy white face of hers would probably burn to a crisp without proper protection!
As I relaxed on the beach, I couldn't help but notice that she seemed to be hovering in one area. Why could that be...ohhhh. Marcel has a beachfront house two doors down from me. Maybe she was trying to catch a glimpse of Marcel sun-bathing?!
When I confronted her about why she seemed to be focused on Marcel's house, it caught her off guard.
Busted
I thought it was funny but Chrissy was embarrassed and trotted away. She should know better by now!
Later in the evening, they did a switcharoo. Chrissy went inside and Marcel was found standing in her yard.
Ugh I just feel like they should profess their love to each other already!

That evening, I spent two hours chasing banded dragonflies around town, tearing up my grass in the process I'm sure. No luck there but I did catch something pretty cool...
I immediately recognized it for what it was because I knew I hadn't dropped anything near my flowers. I crept up to catch it but it took off at a slower pace and after a few mis-timed swings I caught it! These guys are pretty funny for how similar they look to furniture!

Out With The New, In With The Newer

Yup she really left.
Kiki must have been on vacation from her REAL hometown because she just stayed in Alleria for a cup of coffee.
That's fine though! That makes more room for a neighbor who actually wants to stay around.
Who will it be this time?! Please not another duck...

Hurray! A refreshing face!

Bettina, a very sweet little mouse, moved in quickly and politely took the coveted spot next door to me.
The word spread quickly of a new pretty face in town.

I caught Marcel peeking through the window. Couldn't he knock?! Oh Marcel....

Thanks to my wonderful gardens, I'm getting at least one new hybrid a day. And I couldn't do it without the help of my neighbors. They've all pitched in to get some watering done. It seems like it's actually catching on as a great community activity!

Everybody in town seems to be excited for this weekends' Bug-Off.

I hope I have time to enter! I have lots to do this weekend so hopefully I can give Avery and everybody else a run for their money.

Last night I had to hurry and finish my watering before bedtime. As I was heading down a path next to the northern part of the river I saw a shadow as big as a sea bass. I knew it was something special!

That's right, 'It's about time-a'! Finally, I was able to rush it off to the museum before I went to sleep.

A couple days ago, I ran into Mallary and Antonio in a strange conversation:

Mallary flipped out, berating poor Antonio. She didn't know if she was more upset because he would think she would ever marry him or because he was asking if she thought it would be weird. Geez....

The whole mess of a conversation put a sour mood into the warm evening air.

Antonio was pretty shaken up. He thought he was asking a fair question.

Mallary actually took the chance to step back and look at her attitude. If Antonio thinks it would be weird to be married to me....
I could sense the lack of self confidence in Mallary. Yikes.... I took a couple steps back onto the path and ran to a less awkward section of town.

You know what is not awkward at all? A conversation with the great Marcel!
...
Okay, sometimes it is awkward...
Maybe a lot of times...
But! It's always adorable!
As I made my way towards home, Marcel stopped me with an urgent story of how he had this super-awesome dream. And I was in it!
As I was zoning out, I missed all the details but apparently Marcel was so moved by this dream that he felt like he needed to give me a new nickname:

I've been known as many things in Alleria but S-bot? Really?
As usual with Marcel, I sighed and agreed. He could call me S-bot.
Marcel trotted off as happily as ever, whistling his favorite tune.

In regards to Chrissy, nothing much has happened. Although, one conversation with Marcel led me to find out why he's so darn happy to receive those gifts from her:

Marcel, mamas' boy

Here we go...

Alright, I know it's been too long since I last updated but I haven't had much time to. Hopefully I can stay on top of this because now I'm feeling overwhelmed with how much I have to do in this post.
So let's get started:
We left off with the last fishing tourney. A couple days later I went into the city only to realize it was an Allerian alumni reunion.

Miranda seemed to be doing well and has adjusted to her new home. I apologized for her being forced out as a casualty in the Alleria Duck Hunt but she seems to be happy with her new life. Good for her.

Don't worry Moe! I remember you!
Our first resident to leave, good old Moe, is still as sweet as ever. I miss him.

For some reason, Winnie seemed a tad bitter. She doesn't seem to have as fond a memory of her former hometown as others. That's okay, nobody remembers her anyway.
As soon as I got back into town, Marcel dropped the bomb on me.

Noooo! Not our innocent, sweet, fun-loving, friend Marcel! Marcel is such an integral part to the breezy laid back atmosphere of our town. What would we do without him?
After that, we headed down the path to the late Spring picnic. Yes, us Allerians have picnics in the evening. The cool Spring air keeps our macaroni salad at the optimal temperature.

I spilled the beans to Static and Deena about Marcels' plan to move. They were shocked! We each took turns explaining to Marcel why he should stay. Deena made a good point. Why move when all your friends live all so close together in the same town? I think Marcel got the point.

Yay! Marcel is sticking around!

Awwww. That gives me that warm fuzzy feeling inside. What a happy ending.
The day after the picnic, Deena approached with her own decision. Apparently our Marcel intervention made her think twice about her life in Alleria.

Well, who am I to stop her? After all, it's still Duck Season in Alleria. See ya, Deena!

All this moving drama exhausted me. I decided it was time to go visit Gracie at GracieGrace and see if I couldn't get a good style evaluation from him. I came prepared with my pink zap outfit and a fresh pair of shoes from Kicks.

Woooooot! Finally, Gracie gave me his approval! In celebration I decided to splurge. Why not honor Gracie himself and get the full Gracie outfit?!

Awwww, yeah. Look at me, I'm hot shi---....oh. Oh geezus. This is one gaudy look. But....I feel so posh. I finally fit in with the elite.

And look! I can wine and dine with the best of them. I can appreciate fine art!

I feel right at home in the swank HRA model room of Kashi from Kashton! Woooo....

I even turn heads arriving back in town! What wonders a gaudy new outfit can do! Aw yeah.

I even got the approval of Snake.
Yes, your eyes are NOT deceiving you. Snake wore a dress for a day, before switching back to his unexplainable favorite Alleria shirt.
Hey, we don't judge here in Alleria. We embrace. Snake is Snake. And that makes him awesome.

Speaking of my pal Snake...
Remember how much of a sore loser he was during the last fishing tourney? How his unbridled passion for competition masked his complete failure at actually catching any fish? Well, I decided to give to charity (Chump Charity, that is) and send my extra silver trophy to the guy.

Awww, how sweet, right? Well, last weekend on Flea Market Day I paid a visit to Snake to check out his goods. And look!

How nice! He had the trophy proudly displayed in his residence.
But he was quick to try to sell it to me.

You've got to be kidding me! Pshaw. That's Snake for ya. I still love him.

MY flea market went well.

That dark dank room turned out to be a profitable dark dank room.
Welcome to Sarah's Fish Emporium!
Boasting a tuna, a coelacanth, and many fish I picked up the night before, I ended up making just under 100,000 bells. That's a lot of money to me! Many people may scoff at that but I was excited. When I told Blaire, she wasn't that impressed and let me in on a little secret:

Pssh. Well, some of us don't like the wheelin' and dealin' of the stalk market. So Flea Market Day is one of the only opportunities to make big bells with little effort.
I was a little worried with how the economy is in the crapper right now. Would my fellow Allerians shell out the big bells to buy some fish?

Aw yeah! I'm 100,000 bells closer to paying off my mortgage. Then I can start working on the town improvements. I know the town has been wanting a fourth bridge (we already have three because of the uninhabited island) but the only person willing to fund it is me. But not until my house is completely paid off!

Static has been lobbying Rob for a new sports stadium. Slow down, buddy. Maybe move to Portland where the mayor is eager to build stadiums the city doesn't want. (OOOHH, ZING! Yay for local politics references!)

We've had our share of visitors lately. Yesterday, Wendell showed up hungry as ever but I didn't fork any food over. I didn't have time to find room for another pattern.
Pascal dropped by earlier and I finally remembered to give him a scallop!

Of course he gave me an item I already had cataloged. But I always like following his path down to the ocean.

Mostly because it's fun to throw rocks at him.
Pete dropped by and continued telling about his creepy love affair with Phyllis.

I smell a restraining order in the future.
And Saharah stopped by with her carpet scam. Damn her! I was able to mooch 3 old floorings off my neighbors. Three! Most times I can't even get one! And what does she give me? Two mosaic tiles and a shanty mat. I'm not kidding. Screw her. She's not welcome back to Alleria.

And true to her word, Deena packed up and left.

That leaves Alleria with one duck. Back to a safe level. Even if it's the terrible Mallary.
Deena's good-bye letter left me feeling a little guilty that she was another casuality of the Alleria Duck Hunt.

Gah! Why must these always be so sad?! Farewell Deena. I hope to see you again too. As long as you aren't living here.
And even before the dirt had settled, I was already looking to recruit somebody to fill the open spot. And look who I spotted wandering the city!

EEEEEEEEE! It's Chevre!
Oh, what I would give to be graced with her presence in Alleria. *Sigh* She's so darling. (Can you tell? I love Chevre!)

Phew. Looks like everything is caught up. Before I wrap this up, I'll leave you with my favorite thing. Some of my favorite recent quotes from neighbors.

Um, what?

Yeah. Being stanky makes you irresistible, Mallary. Sure.

Deena and Rhonda in the War of Who's News Was More Boring And Unimportant. Maybe that's why Deena left. She was kind of boring and unimportant....

Hahahahahahaha. Yeah Teddy. It probably is the sweatpants.

No silly dialouge here. I just like the picture. Looks like I'm about to fall in.
